The Android app went live on Google Play at the end of July, so August was the first full month The Daily Smark existed on both phones. I said in July that I'd keep opening up the logs, so here's how the month went.
125 Android devices used the app in August, and they made 6,627 requests between them. In July that number was basically nothing, because there was barely a July to speak of.
iOS is still the bulk of it. 421 iPhones, and 34,699 requests. All in, the app served 43,980 requests in August, about 16% more than July.
33 people created a free account in August. In July it was 5. The number of devices signed into an account nearly doubled, from 31 to 60.
Accounts are still free and still optional. They sync your bookmarks and settings across devices, which matters a lot more now that some of you are carrying an Android phone and an iPad. Podcast subscriptions jumped too, from 7 in July to 30 in August.
Behind the app there are crawlers running all day, pulling in whatever the wrestling world published. In August that was 3,484 articles, 7,089 podcast episodes, and 696 videos.
The shows calendar picked up 113 new events, and there are 279 upcoming shows on it right now with dates, venues, and ticket links where they exist.
1,007 questions came in through the AI connection in August, up from 613 in July, spread across 7 different kinds of lookup. People are asking their assistants about news, videos, podcasts, TV schedules, and what's coming to their area.
It's free, it takes one address pasted into your assistant's settings, and there's no account or API key involved.
About three quarters of July's devices were back again in August, and on an average day around 130 of you open the app, up from 107 in July.
